Cedar

Welcome to Cedar class in KS4

In KS4 students get the opportunity to work towards accreditations in a variety of subjects and areas. Practical sessions contribute to students’ coursework to support qualifications. We also offer functional skills for maths and English starting at Entry Level 1 to Level 2. We are fortunate enough to have 2 classrooms to work across as well as access to a computer suite. Life skills are developed in our regular cooking sessions and when we make trips into the local community, which is a vital part of preparing our young people for their next steps. We are pleased to be able to offer regular visits to the Outdoor Learning Centre at St. Lawrence to learn about animal care and Ivor’s small holding to learn about plant care.

There are great opportunities to embrace work experience at school or in the local community, when students are encouraged to grow and except challenges. Students embrace an active role in School Parliament ensuring that everybody has a voice in our school community. Students enjoy social activities and events, which is important for their wellbeing, social interaction skills and developing friendships.

Meeting students at their point of need and building trusting relationships in KS4 enables our young people to take control of their own learning and develop much needed skills to support transitions to their Post 16 setting.
