    Post 16 Small Animal Care

Learning to Care for Our Guinea Pigs

Our Post‑16 students have been hard at work developing their animal care skills as part of their accreditation programme. This week, the focus has been on learning how to care for guinea pigs—and the group has done brilliantly!

Students have taken responsibility for several important daily tasks, including:

    • Cleaning the guinea pigs’ living space
    • Feeding them the correct diet
    • Grooming to keep their coats healthy
    • Carrying out health checks to ensure the animals are happy and well

Everyone has shown amazing teamwork, patience, and confidence while caring for the animals. These hands‑on experiences are helping students gain valuable practical skills—and the guinea pigs certainly seemed to enjoy the extra attention!
